| COUNCIL 102 CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY
By Titus S. Dakpalah (Communications officer -Council 102)
Celebrations in general serve a purpose. It is the bridge between the end of one journey and the beginning of the next. It is an important part of feeling alive and it is detrimental to overlook it.
Anniversary celebrations mark the end of a journey because it is an acknowledgement of your accomplishment. A recognition. It is the beginning of the next journey because success breeds success. As you accomplish a goal – and acknowledge that you have – you raise your energy. When you are in a state of being that is joyous and fulfilled and happy, you are open to more possibilities and opportunities and have more momentum to accomplish the next task. Success breeds success.
Time really flies. Council 102 was one year on the 13th of August 2011.To commemorate the occasion, Brothers and Sisters of Council and Court 102, Holy Cross Parish embarked on a number of activities. This included lectures, socialization (dinner dance), and fundraising. It was climaxed with a thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration on 28th August, 2011.
Reverend Father Linus Zan in his sermon called on Catholics to desist from following negative behaviour -irrespective of their level of acceptance and endorsement by society. Catholics are not supposed to be bandwagons. He added that we often forget to celebrate our successes – especially the “small” ones – and, in forgetting to do so, we do not fully finish the journey we have started.
The Grand Knight, Bro. Samuel Zan Akologo emphasized that the theme for the anniversary celebration ‘Building a strong Christian Family through the Marshallan apostolate’ was very appropriate to our calling as Marshallans. He admonished brothers to take inspiration from the celebration to spear ahead in the lay apostolate. He expressed his joy in the consecration of the new Court for the Holy Cross parish-Court 102.The Executives of the new court were introduced to the congregation.
The Noble Lady for Court 102, Sister Perpetua Duninye, in a word noted that some people think that celebration is for things like birthdays or holidays only. Or maybe for huge business deals, or long terms goals like graduating from college or buying a house. Yes, of course it is for those things. And it is also for the little things.
